It seems that the new development on Mesa Drive east of Foussat is moving forward. This will be a development of some 70 townhomes on the hilltop above Tonopah Street. We are currently trying to get more information on the project, but here are some links to what we have so far:

Planned layout of lots and new streets:
http://www.sdcountyluegepay.com/sri_internet/Default.aspx
(Appears to require Windows to view)

Planning company (not the developer):
http://lightfootpg.com/

Possibly the web site for the development:
http://mesaridgetownhomes.com/

Possibly the developer:
http://www.ordrodgers.com/

This is all certainly a matter of public record, so anyone who knows where to go to get information about such developments is encouraged to do so and post an update here.

Right now our main concern is possible destabilization of the hillside. Nobody on Tonopah wants to have that big hill end up in their backyards. Increased traffic on Mesa and Foussat (if that's even possible!) is also a potential issue.

The developer has posted signs along the property on Mesa if anyone wants to stop by and take a look.

Last night the Oceanside Planning Commission met and passed the initial steps to begin building on the hill above Tonapah. The vote was 5-2 in favor of the project. The "no" votes were cast by commissioners Dennis Martinek and Stan Bertheaud.

We have 10 days to appeal their votes approving the process. There is a $656 fee to appeal unless we have at least 25 signatures of homeowners and tenants within the "noticed" area.

We might not agree on the development of this hilltop but we should all have the info.
